Inside San Diego’s Luxury Michelin Guide Tropical Fine Dining
San Diego’s Michelin Guide recommended restaurant in the sleepy Bird Rock neighborhood surprises and excels at classics modernized.
Opened in the summer of 2022 by longtime La Jolla residents Zoe and Eric Kleinbub, Paradisea has quietly been perfecting their tropical inspired fine dining restaurant and we think that right now it’s never been better. Led by Executive Chef Anders Rubini we think they are making some of the finest contemporary dishes in San Diego.

The key to their success is not new, use local ingredients treated with care, great service and ambiance all paired with fine cocktails and wine, it’s a simple formula but doing it well is not easy. Whether it be locally sourced ultra seasonal spiny lobster from Tunaville Market and Grocery to handmade pasta, to the classic chicken ballantine with an out of this world complex jus de volaille. Expect to find classic dishes but with that new twist that modernizes it to the 21st century.

We highly recommend stoping by for live piano music on Wednesday and Sundays as well as experiencing their Chefs Tasting menu for $125 a person. It’s easily the best way to sample the menu and what chef is most excited about! Stop by for a cocktail and you will be rewarded with a library of options all named after local and tropical fauna. Like the “Scarlett” I’i’wi” with tequila, Italian aperitivo, pineapple, cinnamon and lime. Along with a well curated wine selection with stellar service, Paradisea is a must add to your list of fine dining options for your next special night out.
