An SDFoodies Favorite: O'side Sips

Looking for something fun and new to do in North County? Well we recently discovered Oceanside’s O'side Sips program that rewards you to explore the city of Oceanside while you’re sipping some craft beverages! And you’d be surprise to find Oceanside is one of the best spots for craft beverages — from tea and coffee, to beer, wine and cocktails — there’s something for everyone up in Oceanside!

Pacific Coast Spirits in Oceanside

How does it work?

First — if you haven’t already — go and Visit Oceanside! This North County gem has so many cool spots for both sips and bites. We personally didn't know where to start, so it was exciting to see that Oceanside set up a program to help you explore all the hoppin’ spots.

Next, sign up on their website. You’ll receive a text and email with a link to your passport. From there, you are free to explore! You’ll see all the spots included in the program, as well as discounts and savings from participating locations. This part is probably the coolest, along with a convenient map of all the spots to visit, even if you don’t end up redeeming for a prize you can still sign up and get the discounts!

Once you’ve had a chance to explore all the options, and maybe pick a few to visit, be sure to check in at each location. This allows the program to track your number of “sips”, which is how you’ll be able to receive your prizes! The prizes are pretty cute:

3 Check-Ins = Cork Coaster
5 Check-Ins = Bottle Opener
10 Check-Ins = O'side Sips Tumbler

Once you have enough check-ins, you’ll go and pick them up from the Oceanside Visitors center!

Some SDFoodies Recommendations

As always, if you plan to consume alcohol, please be safe and ensure you have a designated driver!

The SDFoodies team explored all of Oceanside, when we had the chance to experience O’Side Sips. We started our morning off at Communal Coffee — this super cute instagramable spot had everything you might be looking for. Cute flowers, delicious bites, as well as some delicious espresso, coffee, teas, and seasonal sips as well. They also happen to have some alcoholic beverages, if you’re really trying to kick start your morning!

Next we walked down the way for some cocktails over at Pacific Coast Spirits - a small batch craft distillery, embodying the spirit and the essence of all that is California. They always use local ingredients to create tasteful products that smell, taste and feel adventurous!

We really enjoyed sitting outside and playing a game of Jenga while we sipped our drinks. It was also great to see that the O’side sips program offered us a discount on any of their draft cocktails!

After we walked around downtown Oceanside for a while, we thought it would be fun to venture east a little to check out one of our favorite breweries — Black Plague Brewing! This rad spot is serving up delicious Pilsners, IPA’s, Stouts, sours, and so much more. The art is also super cool — really throws us back to the angsty dark makeup days!

Finally, we wanted to find a spot to relax and cool down for a bit so we hopped over to Carruth Cellars for a glass of wine and fire pit vibes. This one might be a little hard to find at first, as it’s hidden within HANGAR76, a multi-tenant venue, featuring both Carruth Cellars Urban Winery
& Tipping Pint Brewery. This is definitely a good spot to hang out at!
